"Those tomorrows waiting deep in your eyes
in the world of love that you keep in your eyes
I'll awaken what's asleep in your eyes
it may take a kiss or two"
(excerpt from 'what are you doing the rest of your life')
~ a simple love story ~
Fervent wishes make haste in the sky
blowing in the wind, deliver or die
heart in a lurch, awaiting reply
poised to stop, if it all goes awry
All on the table, as the sun sets
time slips away while the moon frets
was it enough? Besieged by regrets
should have done more, lest he forgets
'Call me' she whispered; though barely a sound
her plea was felt from miles around
she thought herself lost, but he knew she was found
he emerged from the shadows as doubt ran aground
'Silly girl' he chided, 'why can't you see
you are the sun and the moon and the earth to me
tomorrow is waiting, so if you'll agree
we'll just slip away now, content as can be.'
His eyes met hers, so she'd understand
she saw, reflected, what Fate had planned
with a smile and a laugh, she took his hand
knowing their future together would always be grand.
