“The Kiss” Auguste Rodin, 1889
“Give me a kiss, and to that kiss a score;
then to that twenty, add a hundred more:
a thousand to that hundred: so kiss on,
to make that thousand up a million.
Treble that million, and when that is done,
let’s kiss afresh, as when we first begun.”
~ Robert Herrick ~
***
In the span of a heartbeat
our past and future met
dancing circles around the stars
for the universe to behold
we became the reason
that time dared not exist
while sun and moon promised
to always come out when we kissed
‘forever’ was a lullaby
whispered on the breeze
its meaning held as lovers meld
and hearts and souls unite
and we will look back
to a hundred years ago
to the first kiss, and the tenth kiss
and the kiss where we lost control
to idyllic sighs and all love implies
we’ll think “those were the days”
but in the span of a second heartbeat
our future again unfolds.

(Easy, 1 pt) Use the words “remote control” (I didn’t)

If I was ever to dream, I would hope to dream of kisses; not just of those centered, but near misses; kisses under the stars, or if I might, kisses under hallowed moonlit night; but I know, if it was you, I would get if right.
ReplyDeleteIf I was to dream...
Awwww, Michael. What you've just said, is a poem in and of itself. Love you madly <3
Delete"If I was to dream" - sounds like you've got the title to your next poem ;)
How about, you just dream a dream and allow me a token Cameo appearance?
DeleteSure thing, dollface ;)
DeleteWow....so very very romantic and deep. Loved it. I also love that Herrick quote you found...fits perfectly, the song too!! Love where your new muse is taking you!! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, C - the poem pretty much wrote itself yesterday, thanks to some great imaginings going on in my head :) Herrick didn't have many quotes that I cared for, but I just loved this one. In fact, I wrote my fourth stanza first, after reading it - lol! And I've been waiting on an excuse to use that song. *dreamy sigh*
DeleteGotta love that new muse ;)
*sigh* as true love should be....this is so romantic!
ReplyDeleteIrene
A love to base all loves on. Yep. *sighs*

I still haven't written mine yet but I had that quote in mind to use. Your words capture the essence of love and all the frilly benefits. Absolutely brilliant, and soooo romantic!! Loved it dollface!! Leta
ReplyDeleteI almost didn't write anything this week, but I saw that quote and knew I couldn't pass it up. It's really so beautiful.

ReplyDelete- Marvin Martian
Ooopsy!!!! My bad... I was so overwhelmed by your poem that I awarded you the entire 8 points and just noticed you pointed out you did not use "remote control...." so unfortunately it is actually SEVEN points, Earthling. Sorry for my rushed comment!!!! :D
Delete- Marvin Martian
Awww, thanks Marvin. I was dreaming of romance when I wrote it ;)
DeleteAnd no worries about the points - lol! I'll never have that jacket anyway :D
the kiss we lost control.... *sighs* miss those days of just going for it
ReplyDeleteNever "just going for it" was always my problem. Or, maybe I was just always in survival mode. But, I'm learning to just jump ;)
